Music Video. I spent a good part of my earlier career doing them and it's always the gift of creative possibilities hammered by the lack of resources.
Pelame La Papa was done with very little funding, I was a one man Art Department. We used everything and anything we could find at the location for set dressing, rented the tables for the set, and I borrowed the fan in the background from a dear friend who owns a set shop (Thank you Summit FX!)
Finding out that getting 5000lbs of potatoes was not so difficult to source and tax free (produce, I did not know this!) so we arranged a purchase with a local supplier from LA's massive commercial food district.
The packages of contraband were made at home recycling amazon boxes and some butcher paper. Mama designed a great logo and we had the stickers printed at Universal sign shop as they are a fantastic resource and their pricing is excellent. We outsourced the costumes (yes, I know I am a PD, but im willing to help out on any cause really) to a props builder and he did an amazing job of putting the potato suits into reality in time and on budget.
Borrowed the smoke machine's and fans from various friends and rented a bread truck that I ended up driving because nobody can use a stick shift anymore! Had amazing assistance from the many PA's that were on the job and the team effort shows!
